PORT ANGELES, Wash. — Crews with the U.S. Coast Guard suspended searching the waters off Port Angeles after an aircraft went down Tuesday evening.

The search was suspended as of 4 p.m. Wednesday after crews from the U.S., along with their Canadian partners, had covered 1,170 squares miles looking for a Cessna 170.

A man was reported to be aboard the plane, officials said.

Crews searched through the night.

The flight originated from Ketchikan, Alaska.

Wednesday morning, Coast Guard officials said air, cutter and boat crews were searching search patterns in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
