5 injured in US 2 crash that shut down lanes in both directions

A serious two-car crash has shut down both directions of travel on US 2, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP).

The crash was reported around 10 a.m. near Stevens Pass, just west of Coles Corner.

According to WSP, a driver was turning left from White Pine Road onto US 2 when they hit an eastbound vehicle head-on.

That driver was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital.

Four other people in the other car were injured. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

WSP said it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor, but rather a failure to yield.

There is no detour or estimated time of reopening, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

KIRO will have updates as they become available.
