MERCER ISLAND, Wash. — Two people were tied up and robbed at gunpoint as children slept during a home invasion robbery on Mercer Island early Monday.

It happened around 1 a.m. in the 9000 block of SE 40th Street when two men broke into the home through a back door.

Police said the men woke two adults inside and demanded personal items and money while displaying a handgun.

Police arrived and searched the area using a K-9 team from Kirkland, but the men were not found.

The men then tied the victims together and fled. The victims and the two children who slept through the incident were not hurt.

The victims described the suspects as dark-skinned men with medium builds and heights. Both were wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks during robbery.
