Two arrested in suspected DUI crash into Enumclaw home

ENUMCLAW, Wash. — A suspected DUI driver fleeing police in a stolen car was arrested after crashing into a home in Enumclaw shortly before midnight Wednesday.

Police said the incident began when an Enumclaw officer pulled over a car. Though the driver initially stopped, he then reversed and rammed into the police car.

The driver then fled and crashed into a home near Griffin Avenue and Harding Street. The homeowner said police told him the car was going too fast and couldn’t make a corner.

Police said the car was reported stolen from Pierce County and its license plates had been switched with those from a similar vehicle.

The home’s front porch was damaged. Neither the officer nor anyone inside the home were hurt.

The driver is suspected of driving under the influence. His passenger is facing drug charges and has outstanding warrants.

Both suspects were treated for minor injuries and then taken into custody.
