SNOHOMISH, Wash. — Two 14-year-old boys were arrested after stabbing a man during a confrontation outside the victim’s Snohomish home.

Police were called to the home at about 11 p.m. Thursday after a woman called 911 saying her 47-year-old husband had been stabbed.

The victim told detectives that earlier in the evening, he had heard a knock at the door, but didn’t see anyone outside. He stayed near the door and was watching through the peephole when he saw a figure approaching the door.

The homeowner then opened the door and confronted a teen who was holding a knife. A struggle began between the man and the teen, and the man was stabbed in his leg and chest.

As the man held the teen during the scuffle, the second 14-year-old boy threw a bike at the victim in what police believe was an attempt to help the boy with the knife get away.

At some point, the teens, who had also slashed the tires on the homeowner’s vehicle, ran away, but were tracked down by K9 units nearby and taken into custody.

The victim was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center.
