All lanes of I-5 just north of 128th Street SW in Snohomish County near Everett have been reopened, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
Trooper Kelsey Harding with the Washington State Patrol (WSP) confirmed that the lane closures were due to a pedestrian on the ledge of the overpass.
At one point, all lanes were blocked in both directions.
State Patrol troopers and Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the pedestrian, a 25-year-old man, was booked for disorderly conduct, obstructing, and trespass.
According to the sheriff’s office, he was hanging on the bridge and climbing. Deputies say it appears he was doing this “just for fun” and was noncompliant when deputies ordered him to get down.
Drivers were told to expect delays and asked to be patient while troopers handled the situation.
