TikTok to lay off 75 Bellevue employees, the second consecutive year of local job cuts

BELLEVUE, Wash. — TikTok will lay off several dozen employees based in Bellevue as part of an operational restructuring.

First reported by The Puget Sound Business Journal, TikTok Shop, the platform’s e-commerce division, will eliminate 75 local positions in October. The affected employees all worked at Lincoln Square North in Bellevue (located at 700 Bellevue Way N.E.). This is the second year in a row that Bellevue-based TikTok jobs will be cut, as 65 employees were laid off in 2025.

The layoffs were listed on the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) layoff and closure database. The layoffs are expected to take place Oct. 19.

TikTok, owned by parent company ByteDance, has said it regularly reviews operations as its e-commerce business evolves.

According to The Puget Sound Business Journal, TikTok, one of the largest global social media platforms, is the 16th-largest tech employer in the Puget Sound region with approximately 1,628 local employees.

TikTok shutters Nashville office

Earlier this month, TikTok laid off 250 employees within its Nashville office — just two years after the social media company opened that space.

“We have decided to close our Nashville office to streamline our operations and better align our teams for long-term growth,” a TikTok spokesperson told The Tennessean. “We remain fully committed to providing secure, safe, and positive experiences for the 200 million Americans who create, discover, and connect with what they love on TikTok.”

In 2024, TikTok opened corporate offices in several major cities, including San Francisco, Seattle, Texas, New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville.
