THURSTON CO., Wash. — Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies were injured while breaking up a fight between two inmates in the Thurston County Jail.

A Facebook post from Sheriff Derek Sanders details how the incident started.

It started when one inmate allegedly placed another inmate in a chokehold.

According to Sheriff Sanders, a five-minute struggle followed as deputies tried to intervene and stop the altercation with the inmate who initiated the fight.

The sheriff’s office says that the injured deputies are in stable condition, with one sustaining a chipped tooth.

The inmate faces second-degree assault charges for assaulting the deputies.

TCSO says that this new charge will be added to the fourth-degree domestic assault charge that led to their initial arrest.
