KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. — Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three drivers in separate impaired driving crashes late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

According to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), two of the arrests involved drivers whose blood alcohol content measured nearly twice the state’s legal limit.

The first incident occurred just before midnight Saturday on Central Valley Road in unincorporated Bremerton. The KCSO says a 28-year-old Bremerton man drove into a ditch and showed evidence of impairment. When deputies attempted to arrest him, he tried to run away, resulting in an obstruction charge alongside a DUI charge.

Around the same time, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle high-centered on a rock near Cedar Park Road SE in Olalla. They say the car’s engine was still running with its tires spinning when deputies arrived. Police say the driver, a 29-year-old Port Orchard man, was arrested for DUI after a breathalyzer analysis measured his blood alcohol concentration at nearly twice the .08 legal limit.

Less than an hour later, deputies were dispatched to a crash on Perry Avenue in unincorporated Bremerton. The KCSO says an SUV driven by a 32-year-old Silverdale man rolled over into a family’s front yard. Deputies arrested the driver for DUI after his blood alcohol concentration also measured nearly twice the legal limit.

The KCSO says DUI is a leading cause of serious and fatal traffic collisions across Washington state.
