Three arrested men after failed ATM theft in Queen Anne

Seattle police responding to a report of people breaking into a Queen Anne supermarket on Monday morning found three men, shattered glass and a destroyed ATM.

Witnesses called 911 around 4 a.m. and reported people breaking into a supermarket in the 2400 block of Sixth Avenue West in Queen Anne, but they had left in a van before the police arrived.

Additional officers arriving to the scene spotted the van and arrested three men inside.

The impounded van contained pieces of the damaged ATM, a metal chain, a jacket with “Police” on the back and a watermelon.

The 39, 52 and 56-year-old men were later confirmed to be at the grocery store after investigators watched surveillance video from the store.

Officers arrested the men on investigation of burglary and booked them into the King County Jail.
