Thousands in stolen perfume recovered in retail theft operation, police say

SEATTLE — More than $5,000 worth of stolen perfume was recovered during a retail theft operation in North Seattle, police said.

Police said at about 7:40 p.m. Thursday, officers watched two men enter a health and beauty store, head straight for the fragrances, fill two bags and leave the store without paying.

When the men — a 27-year-old and a 29-year-old — left the store, they were arrested.

Police said they recovered about 60 bottles of perfume from the men, valued at approximately $5,225.

One of the men admitted to officers that he had intended to sell the stolen perfume at Third Avenue and Pike Street in the downtown core, officials said.

Both men were booked in the King County Jail for felony theft.
