The San Juan Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of an uptick in a phone scam they’ve seen.
The sheriff’s office said community members reported receiving phone calls from someone named Lt. Coleman with the office.
“Lt. Coleman” is telling people they have a warrant for their arrest for missing jury duty, and if they send money, they can get rid of the warrant.
“The Sheriff’s Office has no Lieutenant positions, nobody named Lt. Coleman, and we will never call to tell you that you have a warrant and definately won’t ask you for money,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
