SILVERDALE, Wash. — A Poulsbo teen died Saturday after falling off a ladder at a construction site.
The girl, 16, was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities said the girl, who fell from a “significant height," died shortly afterward.
She was identified Sunday by the Pierce County medical examiner as Emily Ramm. According to her father, John Ramm, Emily was with a group of friends when the incident occurred.
John Ramm said the group was looking for a place to watch the Perseid meteor shower, eventually settling on a Silverdale Elementary School construction site off limits to the public.
The school is receiving a total remodel and has been under construction since July 2015.
After the fall, Emily's friends took her to nearby Harrison Hospital but did not call police. From Harrison Hospital, Emily was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital.
The fall crushed her skull and caused major chest injuries, John Ramm said. He said he does not believe Emily's friends should face criminal charges.
"They stayed; they didn't just leave her and run," John Ramm said. "They were with her to the end. They're going to remember this accident for the rest of their lives."
Emily, an organ donor, is survived by six siblings. Both Emily's kidneys and her lungs were donated.
Her family created a GoFundMe page Sunday in her memory. Click here to see.
The funds raised through the account will help pay for her funeral and family counseling. Whatever they don't spend will be donated.
"Our family decided to donate some of her organs to insure our Emily lives on and (is) able to give life to others," the GoFundMe page reads.
