Tacoma’s Hylebos Bridge to close for three-day inspection

TACOMA, Wash. — The City of Tacoma is closing the Hylebos Bridge in the tide flats for three days for a routine structural inspection.

The closure will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., September 8 through September 10.

Traffic control signage and notice boards will be in place.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional time for travel around the closure.

It’s the second time in a month that this has happened. The bridge was also shut down for an inspection from Aug. 25 through Aug. 27. It also was closed for emergency repairs in late July.

The bridge connects State Route 509 with the north end of the Port of Tacoma.
