TACOMA, Wash. — Transportation to the Tacoma Mall for employees is about to be a lot cheaper.
Starting this week, Tacoma Mall employees can sign up for the Tacoma Mall Transportation Access Program (TAP).
The program, created by Tacoma on the Go, will give 148 employees “a full year of free, unlimited regional transit,” according to Community Development Coordinator Tia Marie Dawkins.
The provided ORCA cards will work starting Thursday, Oct. 1, and last until Sept. 30, 2027.
“The project addresses transportation costs as a barrier to employment while supporting employee retention and the Tacoma Mall Subarea Plan’s vision for greater transit access and reduced reliance on single-occupancy vehicles,” Dawkins wrote via email.
Money for TAP came from the City of Tacoma, with Pierce Transit joining as a partner, according to Dawkins.
Tacoma Mall employees can sign up now, and cards will be delivered this week.
