Suspected DUI driver arrested after hit-and-run collision involving several vehicles

MONROE, Wash. — A 37-year-old Everett man suspected of driving under the influence was arrested Saturday afternoon after attempting to flee a collision involving four other vehicles, Monroe police said.

Officials said officers responded at 4:18 p.m. to a collision at the intersection of State Route 2 and Chain Lake Road. Initial reports revealed that others were trying to keep a blue Honda Civic from fleeing a crash involving three cars.

When officers arrived, they said they saw a damaged blue Civic speed away from the crash, run a red light and then strike two other cars, which caused it to stop.

According to law enforcement, “alcoholic beverage containers were observed inside the vehicle.”

The driver of the Civic, who officers said had a “strong odor of intoxicants,” was taken into custody.

The driver was booked into jail for hit-and-run and attempting to elude police.

The crash reportedly impacted traffic in the area for two hours; however, no serious injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
