Suspect in fatal Burlington gas station shooting arrested

Christian Flores, the suspect in the fatal shooting at a Burlington gas station last week, has been arrested, police announced Wednesday.

Officials have been searching for Flores, 19, since the incident last week. Flores will be booked into Skagit County Jail for first-degree homicide, according to a press release from the department.

The shooting happened around 11 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of South Burlington Boulevard, about a quarter mile south of Burlington-Edison High School. Police said the victim died at the scene.

Family identified the victim as Dougie Gunter, a Swinomish Tribal member, who lived near Mount Vernon. His brother described Gunter as "a great kid, full of life. If you were having a bad day, he was there to make you smile and pick you up."
