Suspect caught on game camera stealing political sign near Sequim

SEQUIM, Wash. — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is looking to identify a suspect who they say damaged and stole a large political sign along Highway 101 near Sequim.

A deputy was dispatched to investigate the theft on the morning of Oct. 26 after the property owner reported the incident.

The SCSO says the vandalism occurred around 8:52 p.m. on Oct. 25 near milepost 273 on Highway 101.

The sign, which measured 12 feet high by five feet wide and read “Get us out of the United Nations,” was valued at approximately $450.

Deputies reviewed game camera footage from the scene, which they say captured a male holding an object in his left hand while cutting the sign off its wooden support posts.

According to the property owner, previous incidents of vandalism led to the installation of the game camera to monitor the location.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to call the CCSO at (360) 417-2459. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Sheriff’s Office online reporting portal by selecting the “Crime Tips” option.
