SPANAWAY, Wash. — Surveillance video caught someone pulling up outside a home in Spanaway early Saturday morning, firing several bullets into a parked truck and the house, then speeding away.
“You can tell the way they slowed down and stopped right here, they weren’t just driving by shooting. They purposely stopped and shot at the truck,” said Anthony Smith.
Video shows someone popping out of the car’s sunroof and taking aim at the home. Muzzle flashes are clearly visible as several rounds are fired. One can be seen striking the ground near the parked truck.
Six shots left holes in the windows of Smith’s son Joseph’s truck.
One passed through the rear window and the windshield before lodging in Smith's house. A bullet fragment broke a window in the home. The Smiths found that and a shell casing from a 9 millimeter bullet left behind.
Asked if he knew of any reason for someone to target his truck and his family home, Joseph Smith replied, “Nope, not at all.”
“It’s scary,” added Anthony. “We have a 2-year-old living here. My 14-year-old grandson was here.”
The family has no idea why anyone would target their home. They say they have no enemies, and largely keep to themselves.
Sheriff's investigators say the shooting appears to be random.
The Smiths say it's just luck that no one inside the house was hit.
“It’s scary,” said Joseph. "It makes me feel very uneasy. I’m glad that nobody got hurt.”
