SEATTLE — Starbucks is laying off more than 200 employees – including those who declined to move to Nashville.
According to the company, this does not represent a new round of cuts. Instead, it is part of a broader restructuring the company announced in the spring.
Starbucks announced in May that it was eliminating about 300 roles in the U.S. as part of its Back to Starbucks strategy.
104 support roles for the company’s coffeehouse and design teams will be eliminated across Seattle and other cities, and about 120 employees turned down roles in Tennessee – where the coffee giant is building a second headquarters to complement its one in Seattle.
The expected date of the first separations will be October 19. All separations will be completed by November 1, according to a notice from the company.
