BOTHELL, Wash. — Drivers traveling through Bothell should prepare for delays this Halloween weekend as all lanes of southbound Interstate 405 close between State Route 527 and State Route 522.
The Washington State Department of Transportation will close southbound I-405 beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. The freeway is scheduled to reopen at 4 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2.
The closure is part of the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project. Crews will use the weekend to remove a portion of the pedestrian bridge over I-405 at the Canyon Park Park and Ride to make room to widen the freeway.
A detour using Bothell Everett Highway and Bothell Way Northeast will be in place during the closure.
Ramp closures
The following southbound ramps will also close:
- I-405 on-ramp from SR 527
- I-405 on- and off-ramps at Northeast 195th Street, Exit 24
- I-405 off-ramps to SR 522, Exit 23
- Canyon Park pedestrian bridge closes until 2028
The pedestrian bridge at the Canyon Park Park and Ride will close at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, as crews prepare to remove the sections above southbound I-405.
Travelers who need to cross I-405 can use transit routes 106 or 120 or follow signs for a temporary construction shuttle.
Southbound Sound Transit routes 532 and 525 will board at temporary Bay B inside the park and ride.
The pedestrian bridge closure will extend well beyond this weekend’s freeway work. Crews plan to remove the section of the bridge above northbound I-405 the following weekend, Nov. 6-9. A new pedestrian bridge is planned to open in 2028.
