A skydiver died after his parachute collapsed into itself Friday night in Snohomish County, authorities there said.
The incident was reported about 6:30 p.m.
“Nine people had been skydiving and did a standard ‘jump’ from 13,000 feet,” Snohomish County spokeswoman Shari Ireton said in a statement. “The victim, a 28 year-old male, was reportedly practicing ‘advanced maneuvers.’ He attempted an ‘aggressive turn,’ when his parachute apparently collapsed into itself. He landed hard and a nearby civilian attempted CPR.”
Medics arrived shortly after and pronounced him dead at the scene. The young man’s name has not been released by authorities.
