SILVERDALE, Wash. — A 24-year-old Silverdale man experiencing a mental health crisis was taken into custody Tuesday, Sept. 8, after Kitsap County deputies found several guns on him.
Shortly after receiving a call from a relative of the Silverdale man, Kitsap County deputies responded to the scene, according to a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office post on Facebook.
The relative’s call mentioned that the man was self-harming in a bedroom with guns nearby, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).
After crisis negotiations failed, the man was handcuffed, following a takedown, when deputies spotted a shotgun on the man’s back.
According to the KCSO, the following weapons were discovered in the room:
- Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun
- Glock 19 handgun
- Stevens Model 320 12-gauge shotgun
- Davidson Defense DD-15 rifle
The KCSO also specifies that there were “rifle parts” and over 40 rounds of “armor-piercing ammunition,” as well.
The 24-old-man was sent to St. Michael Medical Center to be evaluated.
