KENT, Wash. — Two patrol officers dealing with a different shoplifting call got a surprise Wednesday, Oct. 14, when another attempted shoplifting unfolded right in front of them.
According to the Kent Police Department on Facebook, the two Kent officers were sitting in a Target parking lot, dealing with a shoplifting call when a Target employee ran out and flagged them down.
The employee then informed them that an individual was actively stealing “a cart full of items” from the store, according to the Kent Police Department.
The Kent Police Department notes that officers then ran after the suspect, a 53-year-old woman, and once locating her, they told her to stop.
Instead of stopping, the woman ran away from her cart, and attempted to hide in nearby bushes, according to the Kent Police Department.
The two officers proceeded to arrest her. Kent police say that the suspect stole 21 items, worth over $750, and that she admitted that she wanted to “sell some of the items.”
