Washington state officials say Seattle is now home to more than 700,000 people.
The Office of Financial Management released the news Friday while noting that the state is growing at its fastest pace since 2006. The statewide population jumped 1.76 percent from a year ago, mostly because of migration.
As of April 1, there were 7.3 million Washington residents, 713,700 of them in Seattle. The state added 249 people a day on average, while Seattle took in 74 new arrivals daily.

Population growth was concentrated in the five largest urban counties: King, Pierce, Snohomish, Spokane and Clark.
