SEATTLE — Seattle’s Chinatown-International District is closing another longtime restaurant.
Mi La Cay on 12th Avenue South has served the community for more than three decades. In a few days, it’ll serve its last meal.
“After 34 years of serving our customers, we have decided to close our business. This is the hardest decision to make,” the owners shared online.
They did not share specifically why they are closing, but pointed to financial challenges.
“Everyone, you were always with us in the good times and the bad times. The community came together to help us during the struggles of COVID, and we are so grateful for all your support,” the owners said.
The well-known noodle shop originally opened in 1993 near Rainier Avenue and Dearborn Street. They specialize in authentic Chinese-Vietnamese cuisine.
The decision to close wasn’t an easy one.
“Throughout all these years, we have been able to know & become friends with our customers & learn so many of your stories,” the owners shared. “Stories of ones who came to Mi La Cay with parents as a child, then grew up, dated, married & eventually brought their own family to Mi La Cay.”
The restaurant’s last day of business is October 29.
