Seattle’s early October begins with dry weather and slightly above-normal temperatures

The jet stream is transporting a couple of weak waves to British Columbia this week. When those waves brush across the northern Washington coast, Point Roberts, and along western Whatcom County today and Friday, some light rain showers will fall in these areas.

The northern half of western Washington will not see as much sun break through the cloud cover as areas south of Everett will. These northern areas will keep high temperatures closer to 60 degrees today.

Even with partly to mostly cloudy skies, a warming trend is underway.

Friday highs will be slightly warmer than today. Seattle will be in the upper 60s with mostly cloudy skies, and from Olympia to Centralia, the high temperatures will be around 70. Add a few more degrees to each day for Saturday and Sunday temperatures. High pressure will push any cloudy, cool weather northward into Canada.

Our October mornings from Saturday through Tuesday will have areas of low clouds and fog that clear away for sunny days. Once the warming ridge slides eastward Monday, we will feel a degree or two fall off the high temperatures. Expect average highs mid-week. Weather will remain dry Saturday through the middle of next week too, which will make the fall colors, hayrides, and pumpkin patches a welcoming treat.
