SEATTLE — Seattle teachers rallied again Wednesday in support of their ongoing contract negotiations and better pay.
Local teachers set Wednesday as the original deadline to reach a tentative contract with Seattle Public Schools. This has not happened yet, and negotiations are still in progress.
Groups also rallied last week on overpasses over I-5, waving signs and garnering support from passing motorists.
The union told KIRO 7 the issues they've been focused on are teacher pay, racial equity, career growth and student care.
Teachers gathered from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. outside district headquarters. Negotiations are scheduled to resume at Noon on Thursday.
Last year the 5,500 union members and the district narrowly averted a walkout by teachers after an almost 11 percent pay increase for teachers was approved.
