Friday evening, one of the most iconic parts of the Seattle Skyline got a makeover as the Space Needle lit up pink to honor the late “queen of country,” Dolly Parton.
The occasion, September 25, or “9-two- 5″, is a reference to one of Parton’s most iconic songs, paying homage to America’s working class and the title of the 1980 film she starred in.
The needle was not the only local landmark paying its respects. Across the Sound, cities and shops celebrated “Dolly Day”, the newly declared holiday introduced by the Seattle City Council Tuesday.
