Seattle police arrest felon in stolen car, find homemade bomb

SEATTLE — Police said they found a handgun and homemade explosive device in a car that was being driven by a felon.

Officers spotted the stolen car in the 7000 block of Marginal Way South in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

When officers pulled over the driver, he ran away but was quickly arrested and searched. Officers said the 25-year-old suspect had a handgun and modified keys that are typically used by car thieves.

When police searched the car, they found what they believe to be an improvised explosive device.

The Seattle police arson and bomb squad was called in to safely remove the homemade bomb.

Detectives continue to investigate the case.
