SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners have signed general manager Jerry Dipoto to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.
Dipoto is in his third full season with the Mariners after being officially hired on Sept. 28, 2015. Dipoto previously served as the general manager of the Anaheim Angels from 2011 to 2015.
“Jerry arrived here two-and-a-half years ago with a specific plan for our franchise,” Seattle Mariners President & Chief Executive Officer Kevin Mather said. “He has successfully executed that plan, resulting in a younger, more athletic and, most importantly, far more successful Major League team.

“At the same time, he has upgraded nearly every aspect of our overall baseball operation, improving systems, staff and communication in our Major League operations, our Player Development system, our Pro and Amateur scouting departments and our revamped High Performance Area,” Mather said.
Since retiring as a player in 2001, Dipoto has 18 seasons of experience as a baseball executive
Since Dipoto's first full year with the team in 2016, the Mariners have the eighth-best record in MLB at 220-192.
The Mariners enter Friday's series against the Colorado Rockies with a 56-32 record, trailing only the first-place Houston Astros by 1.5 games in the AL West.
