SOUTH SEATTLE, Wash. — One person is dead and another was injured in a hit-and-run where a car backed into a building and caught fire on Sunday.
The fire started Sunday evening, after a suspect driving their car southbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Way near Rainier Station hit two cars at a red light. The suspect then tried to drive off but instead backed into a building, where their car burst into flames.
The 34-year-old driver died at the scene, while a 26-year-old passenger car managed to climb out of the window and escape the flames with non-life-threatening injuries.
Seattle police say they are investigating the crash as a hit-and-run. The passenger was taken into custody.
