SEATTLE — Patrick Anaya is a beloved bartender at Seattle’s Queen Anne Beerhall, known to friends and coworkers as a natural leader with a good sense of humor.
In 2023, Patrick was diagnosed with throat cancer, which he fought hard and put into remission.
But just six months later, his wife, Sarah, was also diagnosed with cancer. Sarah lost her battle with cancer last year, and Patrick was left to raise their two young daughters.
Now, he’s battling cancer again.
But his family and friends say he’s not alone in this fight.
On Wednesday night, the Seattle community rallied behind the father of two to raise money for treatment and expenses, but more importantly, to show their support for the Anaya family.
“It really truly is our community coming together to help one of our own, to help somebody that is important to our community,” friends and organizers told KIRO 7. “It’s really tough when you see someone close to such an amazing person be affected by a disease that you can’t control. Patrick is very, very deserving of our community and our help.”
Friends, family, colleagues, and community gathered together to spend the evening running raffles, auctions, and wine grabs at the Queen Anne Beerhall, with 100% of all ticket sales and 20% of food and beverage sales donated directly to the Anaya family.
“Patrick has spent years taking care of others and creating community from behind the bar. Now, his friends and the Seattle community are coming together to take care of him,” say organizers. “Funds raised will help Patrick and his daughters with their mortgage, household bills, and other expenses during his cancer treatment and time away from work.”
