TACOMA, Wash. — The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department has issued a “seasonal rainfall advisory” for the Thea Foss Waterway in Tacoma.
According to health officials, people should avoid contact with this water— from the 11th St. bridge to the south end of the waterway—for 48 hours after it rains.
The health department says avoid recreational activities like kayaking and paddleboarding.
“Rain can wash bacteria into the waterway, which could cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea,” the health department wrote.
