RENTON, Wash. — The open portion of the Seahawks' 2018 training camp officially ended on Thursday, but not without tributes to the late Aretha Franklin.
The "Queen of Soul," passed away early Thursday in Detroit after a battle with pancreatic cancer, her publicist announced. Read more about her battle with pancreatic cancer here.
As fans took in the last public training camp of the summer at the VMAC in Renton, Franklin’s ‘R-E-S-P-E-C-T’ blared from speakers.
Head coach Pete Carroll also posted a tribute on his Twitter account:
Quarterback Russell Wilson also took the time to honor the late singer. "I know she'll be up in heaven, looking down, signing her tail off," Wilson said.
The Seahawks will head to Los Angeles on Friday ahead of their second preseason matchup against the Chargers.
