SEATTLE, Wash. — A north Seattle woman says she woke up Saturday morning to bullets flying over her head.

It was the second shooting near Aurora Avenue within 48 hours. Police say they recovered a total of 200 shell casings -- from both handguns and rifles.

“It was the scariest moment of my life,” Hannah, who asked KIRO 7 not to share her last name, said.

Hannah, still rattled from the shooting, described how bullets blew threw her bedroom around 8:15 a.m., Saturday morning.

“I was asleep, and then I heard gunshots coming in. It woke me up. I rolled over to the bottom of the bed, freaking out underneath the bed. I was just hiding under there,” Hannah said. “Once the gunshots stopped, I said, ‘I need to call the cops,’ and I climbed over to where my phone was, grabbed it, hid back under the bed, and waited for them to come to the door.”

Hannah showed KIRO 7’s Heather Bosch where a bullet pierced her second floor, bedroom window. There’s even a bullet hole above her bed.

“And that went all the way here, all the way through my closet,” Hannah said, pointing to a hole on a different wall.

Hannah poked her fingers through holes she said the bullet made as it sliced through her clothes.

In the intersection near her home -- North 107th Street and Stone Ave North -- Seattle police say they recovered 80 casings from five different firearms.

Gunfire erupted about half a mile away along Aurora Avenue, Thursday night. Businesses boarded up windows, blown out by bullets, as police collected another 120 shell casings.

“It’s just insane how much worse it’s got,” a man, who lives in a townhouse down the street from Hannah’s home and wished to remain anonymous, said.

Though police haven’t mentioned a motive in the latest shootings, he and other neighbors point to prostitution and related crimes.

“I’m hearing a lot about pimp wars, basically one pimp against another pimp,” the man said.

Earlier this month, Seattle police arrested seven men in a prostitution bust connected to Aurora Avenue.

The city has also closed off several nearby streets to discourage sex trafficking, but neighbors say it’s not enough.

“I think it’s really unfortunate, because this used to be a really beautiful part of Seattle, and I think that it has the potential to be,” Hannah said. “But I think there has to be more efforts to keep the community safe.”

Hannah says she is not waiting for that to happen and has told her landlord she is moving out.
