The Seattle Seahawks and defensive end Michael Bennett have agreed to a three-year $31.5 million contract extension according to Gee Scott of 710 ESPN Seattle.

Ian Rappaport, of the NFL Network, reported that the deal is guaranteed for $17.5 million, and he will make $16 million in 2017. In 2014, Bennett and the Seahawks agreed to a four-year, $28.5 million contract in the spring of 2014.

Bennett and his agent, Doug Hendrickson, had been asking for an extension since the 2015 off-season, but Bennett showed up to all mandatory minicamps and training camps on time over the past two years.

Bennett, 31, has missed five games due to injury this season, but still has four sacks, 17 QB hits and 12 tackles for loss this season. He made his first Pro Bowl last season after recording 10 sacks, and last week was named to his second career Pro Bowl.

The Seattle Seahawks will play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in Santa Clara.
