RENTON, Wash. — Renton Firefighters and police officers filled Renton Memorial Stadium Sunday as the two departments participated in a charity football game to help benefit Seattle Children's Hospital.

School Resource Officer Rob McGruder, along with Hazen High School ASB students, came up with the idea, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to help kids fighting childhood illness.

"It's a fun rivalry, but in the end we're all brothers. We're all here for the same reason: helping our community and serving," Officer Rob McGruder said Sunday.

It was a hard fought battle on both sides, but in the end the Fire Department defeated the police officers 31-19.
