RENTON, Wash. — Cedar River dog park in Renton is temporarily closed as a precaution after a recent outbreak of Canine Parvovirus in King County.
Renton city officials say the dog park will be closed starting Aug. 11 for at least two weeks.
A veterinarian told the City of Renton's Community Services Department that a dog found to have Canine Parvovirus most likely visited the city's Cedar River dog park recently.
Parvovirus is:
All surfaces will be treated with a diluted bleach mixture.
- A highly contagious viral canine disease
- The most common cause for diarrhea in puppies under 6 months old
- Transmitted through contact with dog feces
- The symptoms -- lethargy, vomiting and diarrhea -- develop 3 to 7 days after infection.

Puppies can be vaccinated against Parvovirus.
