"Some want to shop the way they always have and talk to the cashiers, some want to use Scan, Bag, Go, and some want a personalized experience, and some just want to pick up. So it's all how you want to shop," said Zach Stratton, QFC.
Kroger, QFC's parent company teamed up with Microsoft to unveil new technology for every shopper -- but especially for those who want to get in and out of their stores.
It starts by creating your shopping list on the Scan, Bag, Go app.
Once you're inside the store click "Guided Shopping" on the app. Then use the handheld devices at the front of the store. It connects to your list and leads you to the aisle with your product.
You'll know exactly where to find it, because the electronic tag on the shelf will be flashing, cutting down on the time you spend searching for it.
Scan the bar code and when you go to the check out everything is added up. Kroger says guided shopping reduces people's time in the store by 60 percent.
Shopper Bill Anderson says it's improved the way he shops.
"First of all it tells you how much you've spent so if you're on a budget you know exactly how much of your budget you have left. It makes it very quick and convenient. Once you're at the checkout stand you're out and about in about a minute and 10 seconds," Anderson said.
Kroger says its employees are more productive, as the system tells them which items are out of stock .. and they use the guided shopping to fill curbside orders faster. It also says despite new technology, it has added another 10,000 employees in the last 12 months.
Scan, Bag, Go has been around for several years but the guided shopping experience is brand-new and only available in the Redmond Bella Botega location and another one in Cinncinati.
