Police: Woman sparks chase, rear-ends patrol car, swings pipe at troopers

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Police say a driver led them on a chase, rear-ended a patrol car and then got out of her car and swung a pipe at troopers in Bellevue early Wednesday.

A woman in a Toyota was driving on southbound I-5 at 50th Street when she was pulled over for speeding and driving erratically, according to a Washington State Patrol trooper at the scene.

While troopers were talking with her, she pulled away. Troopers said they chased her on eastbound SR 520 into Bellevue, where she rear-ended a patrol car at Bellevue Way.

Two State Patrol vehicles and the suspect’s car were damaged, but no troopers were hurt.

The State Patrol said the woman then got out of the car and swung a metal pipe at troopers. Troopers got her under control, and she was taken to the hospital by Bellevue Fire Department medics with unknown injuries around 2 a.m.
