Armed robber fires shots at pot shop after leaving cash behind, police say

SEATTLE — Seattle police are searching for an armed robber who they say fired several shots at the door of a pot shop late Saturday night, injuring an employee.

Officers were called about 11:40 p.m. to the 1400 block of East Republican Street in the Capitol Hill neighborhood on a report of a robbery with shots fired.

When officers arrived, witnesses told them a man entered the pot shop and pointed a gun at employees, demanding money, law enforcement officials said. He also filled a bag with products from behind the counter.

The man returned and attempted to get back in but could not gain entry and pulled out a gun and fired shots at the door, police said. A store employee suffered an injury to their hand.

Police said the armed man then left the pot shop, leaving behind a bag of cash, and employees quickly locked the front door.

The man left after he could not get inside.

Police searched the area but could not find the man.

Police are investigating.
