FIFE, Wash. — The Fife Police Department investigated a reported bomb threat on Sunday afternoon.
Police first reported the threat just after 12:15 p.m. Sunday.
According to the FPD, the threat included “vague information” and was left in the engineer’s compartment of a Union Pacific Railroad locomotive. The engine is located near the switch station near 20th Street East and Port of Tacoma Road.
An explosives K-9 team responded to the scene and searched the locomotive, as well as several nearby areas, and did not locate any explosives or devices.
All businesses within 100 yards of the site of the bomb threat were evacuated while authorities responded to the scene.
Union Pacific investigators will continue to investigate the threat. Local federal authorities were also notified of this incident, according to the FPD.
