Update: The 18-year-old student who was reported by students to have brought a gun on the campus of Edmonds-Woodway High School will not be charged with second-degree assault, the Edmonds Police Department said.

It turns out that the gun was a fake, and the student was released from jail after posting bail Wednesday, police said.

Police said detectives are amending the charges to fourth-degree assault and possession of a dangerous weapon on school facilities.
