Police are investigating after a motorcycle struck a student in Lake Stevens near 28th Street NE and 99th Avenue NE.
Lake Stevens fire officials said the crash happened Thursday evening around 5 p.m.
The 10-year-old boy was taken to Providence Hospital in Everett, police said. The boy had a compound fracture in his left leg.
Police said a school bus was stopped in the road for a student to exit. Traffic had stopped in both directions.
The motorcyclist saw an officer and "took off at a high rate," hitting the boy after, police said.
As the motorcyclist tried to speed away, he lost control and tumbled into a ditch. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for injuries.
