LAKE CITY, Wash. — Detectives are investigating after a man was killed during a pursuit in Lake City Monday, the Seattle Police Department announced.

Police said they spotted a stolen vehicle around 2:15 p.m. parked behind a grocery store located just east of Jackson Park Golf Course.

Officers approached the vehicle and tried to contact the man and woman inside, but they sped away, police said.

According to police, the male passenger was killed in the collision and the woman climbed out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Officials said the suspects fled south and eventually collided with a parked garbage truck located near 35th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 125th Street, about 1 mile north of Nathan Hale High School.

Police took the woman into custody and she was transported to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.
