Police: Lakewood man arrested after hitting pedestrian and driving away

LONGVIEW, Wash. — A 63-year-old Lakewood man was arrested after allegedly striking a pedestrian on Ocean Beach Highway and driving away, according to the Longview Police Department (LPD).

Police say the man was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and vehicular assault following the incident.

Officers responded to the scene Monday after a vehicle ran a red light and hit a pedestrian who was walking across the sidewalk, police said.

They say the driver then left the scene.

The victim was taken to St. John’s for medical treatment. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

Police say further investigations are being done to determine if impairment was a factor in the collision.
