SHORELINE, Wash. — A Kenmore police officer was injured Friday after a suspect slashed him with a knife outside a grocery store in Shoreline, said the Kenmore Police Department (KPD).
KPD said the suspect was arrested and booked into jail, but posted a $25,000 bond shortly after and is currently at large.
Kenmore police officers were assisting Shoreline Police with a threats call involving a weapon at a grocery store on Ballinger Way, where they say the suspect had threatened to kill store employees and responding officers.
KPD says they have had an extensive history with the suspect from earlier in 2026, when he previously made threats toward officers.
They say when officers arrived at the grocery store on Friday, the suspect ran away. As officers moved to arrest him, the suspect pulled out a knife and repeatedly attempted to stab a Kenmore police officer, slashing the officer in the arm, KPD said.
The suspect was taken into custody. The injured officer was treated at an area hospital and is expected to be okay.
KPD says the suspect was booked into the King County Jail on charges of felony harassment for threatening to kill store employees and officers, as well as felony assault on a police officer.
The suspect was released after posting a $25,000 bond set by a judge.
The suspect’s current whereabouts are unknown, KPD says, but he is expected to appear at a future court hearing.
