RAINIER BEACH, Wash. — Seattle police are investigating after a King County Metro bus driver was stabbed five times while on a Metro bus in the Rainier Beach neighborhood of Seattle on Sunday night.
At about 10:15 pm, officers and Seattle fire were called to the 8800 block of Seward Park Avenue South for a reported stabbing.
Witnesses said that following an altercation between the driver and a passenger, the suspect ran away.
The bus on the 7 route had been stopped at a layover area on Rainier Avenue.
The 54-year-old driver was stabbed in the upper body. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition, Seattle police said.
The suspect was found near Renton Avenue South and South Roxbury.
Witnesses positively identified the man as the correct suspect and he was taken into custody. He was booked into the King County Jail on assault charges.
