Suspicious item incident at Sea-Tac Airport cleared, security checkpoint reopens

A small area, including a security checkpoint, at the ticketing level of Sea-Tac Airport was shut down Wednesday night as police investigated a suspicious item.

After 9 p.m., the incident had been cleared by Port of Seattle police and security checkpoint 5 reopened.

Police were investigating in the north end of the airport and had to close off the checkpoint.

Airport officials said ticket counters remained open and there were no operational impacts to the airport.

Officials said the suspicious item was a bag that was left near the checkpoint.
